Vassiliki Beach Lefkada
Wind, sand and lots of surf Vassiliki Beach is on the southern part of Lefkada island and is famous for its excellent windsurfing and kitesurfing. The thermal winds that create the perfect conditions for surfers tend to pick up in the afternoon hours and last until 9.00pm during the summer season. Windsurfers come from all over the world to spend their entire afternoons on the water and the beach has become the playground where surfers show off their skills to the public. There are often hundreds of windsurfs on the water in a rainbow of colours - it really is an amazing site.
The beach itself may not be ideal for swimming but it certainly is a fun afternoon out. The sand is golden, the water is a dark turqioze and the beach has plenty of bars, cafes and even a taverna or two. There is also an organised camping groung close by which is mostly tends to accommodate surfers all summer. |
