Andros
Andros is a lovely island that has a good combination of island life and trade. It is the second largest island in the Cycladics after Naxos. Andros is known for its high-winds (Meltemia) and neo classical architechture. Unlike the other cycladic islands, Andros has it own natural water and has numerous trees. Andros is also home to the Modern Art museaum of Greece
Argosaronic Gulf
The Argosaronic Gulf is the region describing the islands of Aegina,Salamina, Poros, Hydra and Spetes. This gulf represents deep blue waters, easy sailing and always protected from bad weather conditions. You can always find a cove to bear down in the Argosaronic Gulf
Batsi
Batsi is Andros' island major resort. It has a long strech of beach perfect for walking and relaxing. There isn't much to do there but if that is what you are looking for "nothing to do" then its the perfect place
Cyclades
Cyclades is the area representing the islands of Kea, Kythnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Kimolos, Andros, Tinos, Mykonos,Delos, Syros,Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Ios, Amorgos, Sikinos, Folegandros, Santorini, Anafi
Delos
Delos is a small barren island next to Mykonos where according to Mythology, the birthplace of Apollo. The island is well worth seeing as most of the island is filled with antiquities. You will need a good two hours to see the antiquities but be sure to bring your hat and plenty of water as there isn't any shade to be found.
Evia
The island of Evia is not popular with foreign tourists but it has increadible beauty and definitely has a taste of the locals. Evia has wonderful secluded beaches and if you like a little surf in your swiming some of the beaches can definitely pick up a wave
Folegandros
Folegandros is one of Greece's islands for the artistis. It is unspoiled by tourism and offers visitors wonderful peaceful beaches but be prepared for a hike, straight down the cliffs. One of the best ways to really see folegandros is by boat - it gives you access to all the secluded beaches that are just not reachable by land. The top of Folegandros is Hora - the old villiage perfectly maintained by many of the foreigners from Germany, England who have made Hora and Folegandros their new home
Gythio
Gythio was once the port of ancient Sparta. It is an attractive fishing villiage and a good destination stop for sailors on their way to the Ionian islands
Hydra
The island of Hydra in the Saronic guilf is one of the most impressive and unique islands. Its sheer cliffs and amazing views with wonderfuly well kept old style homes makes this the island perfect for photography. Hydra is very cosmopolitan for the locals and typically its harbor is loaded with the Mega Yachts who have come out for the day
Kea
Kea is the cycladic island which lies closest to Athens - 16miles from Lavrio. Kea is a mountainous island, its highest peak being Profitis Ilias (568m.)Kea is a bare landscape with crystal clear water. Its villiage is lined with olive trees, olianders and wild bush. A rugged island with private beaches not typically visited from tourists.
Kimolos
Kimolos is a little island very close to Milos but rarely visited by tourists. The entire island is one little quiet villiage and a great beach. Its perfect if you don't want to be found because Kimolos doesn't offer too much modern technology. The islanders are warm and friendly and generally laid-back
Kythnos
The island of Kythnos is primarily popular to Athenians and isn't much visited by tourists. It has great thermal baths if you suffer from rheumatism and in general is a good island to just relax away from the hussle and bussle of most of the cycladic islands
Lefkada
The island of Lefkada and primarily its beach called Vasiliki is renowned by the fans of Wind Surfing as one of the best places in the World to learn the sport. In addition to its great windsurfing, Lefkada is perfect for sailing with areas for really fast sailing and private well protected coves when you want to anchor. Prepare yourself for some of the most amazing blue-green waters and numerous uninhabited islands where you can anchor and have all to yourself
Makronisos
In antiquity, Makronisos was known as Eleni because of a legend in which Helen stopped off there on her way to/from Troy. It lies betwen Kea and Lavrio. It is not inhabited and a barren island.
Milos
The island of Milos is not known for its green trees but for its endless rock. The entire island is barren with limited Green brush but its beauty lies in the rock formations, hundreds of caves and coves excellent for swimming and general adventuring. Milos is most famous for the statue of Aphrodite which was found there and can be seen in the Louvre-France where it has stolen the attention for years
Mykonos
Mykonos the island of endless nightlife, beautiful beaches, great beach parties and general love of life. Mykonos is filled with outdoor cafes nestled at the end of the water. The famous Meltemia winds never stop on this island and its a refreshing delight against the hot summer days. The picturesque windmills, the mascot pelican that walks throughout the villiage greeting guests is a must see. Mykonos is not only famous for its nightlife but also the clothing collections from great designers such as Donna Karen, Dolce, Calvin Klein and many more who often launch their summer lines in Mykonos
Naxos
Naxos, the island of great wine and music, famous for its cheese as well. Naxos is a great island for walking and hiking as many of the old paths linking the villiages have been restored. Be sure to bring your sweater to Naxos becuase most of its nights are cooler than many of the other islands. Its a refreshing coolness from the hot summer sun.
Ouzo
Ouzo is a traditional greek drink that resembles the taste of licorice. Greeks drink it with water to really bring out its flavor. If you are not accustomed to drinking Ouzo be careful! It can make you exceptionally happy until the next morning where you will probably end up wondering why you are dressed like an acient Greek God or Goddess!
Poros
The island of Poros lies in the south-west of the Saronic Gulf. It a green island filled with trees and lemon trees, an area of 33sq. miles and a shorline of 42 km. Poros has great beaches and coves great for anchoring and afternoon private beach parties.
Rhodes
The island of Rhodes has a beautiful combination of ancient past with a mystical old town combined with modern facilities, wonderful restaurants, impressive nightlife and more. Rhodes has something for everyone and has great sailing locations.
Serifos
The island of Serifos from a distance does not look like an interesting island but when you are on the island you will see that it has a beautiful villiage that is nestled on top of the mountain. The island has great sandy beaches, wonderful restaurants, paths for distance walking in the hills and much more. Serifos is a great island to enjoy true island relaxation and peace. Serfios' night life is limited but just enough for an evening coctail or two
Sifnos
Sifnos is a beautiful island with the traditional white cycladic house with blue shutters. The beaches are spectacular and the natives are warm and friendly. The real beauty of Sifnos is on the plateau six kilometers from the port - there you can go to the Kastro a medival villiage, eat and drink wonderful wine and just all around enjoy yourself
Spetses
Spetses is an island green with pine trees and lies at the entrance to the Argolic Gulf. It has a picturesque harbor and house. Its harbor is loaded with little outdoor cafes and perfect for people watching. Spetses has fine sandy beaches on the north coast with pine trees that come all the way down to the water. Spetses has wonderful restaurants, shopping, cafes and beaches ranking it amongst the best of the ArgoSaronic Gulf after Hydra.
Tinos
The island of Tinos lies between Syros, Andros and Mykonos. An exquisite island of white-washed Vernacular houses. This is the island of artists but is most famous for the Virgin Mary Icon which thousands of christians each year visit the island to attend the ceremony on the 15th of August
Western Crete
The island of Crete is Greece's largest island, wealthy in olive oil prodution,fruits and vegeteble exports. Places to see in Western Crete are Hania - a wonderfully preserved old town with beautiful handy craft especially if you like hand blown glass, Rethymono and Agia Galini. Crete has some of the most spectacular beaches but is not that friendly to sailing at Crete is located in open deep waters
Zakynthos
The island of Zakynthos is wealthy in natural beauty and wonderful beaches. The Zakynthians are warm and friendly and still remind one of the famous Greek hospitality. Zakynthos is 8 nautical miles south of Cephalonia and 10 nautical miles eastof Kyllini in the are of the peloponnese. You will be amazed by the fresh fruit and vegtebles that are hand picked each morning by the locals
